As most of you who know us know, we Giants have our own Fundraising group! Challenge SGM is a team dedicated to pushing the company forward in their efforts to raise cash for deserving charities. This year, we’re supporting Cancer Research UK and Pilgrims Hospice.
Recently, we’ve been following our very own Robyn Marks in her first run ever! She’ll be taking part in the Race for Life for Cancer Research UK on the 12th June 2016. Here’s what she has to say:
“I haven’t yet taken part in a charity event for SGM, and it’s something we’re passionate about. I wanted to really challenge myself to help other people, and so when Luke Quilter encouraged me to take that leap, I jumped at the first chance I got!
CRUK is particularly close to me – like many people, Cancer has affected my life and people close to me, so it’s is an important charity for me to support. I’m not running it for anyone in particular, it’s just to support this charity. I think everyone should challenge themselves to something, and put themselves out there. I’ve been training as much as I can – I live by the cycle path in Hythe, so on good evenings I’ll run for about an hour (on bad ones, I’ll cycle!), but I just have to push myself! I know the runners out there will be shaking their heads at my technique, but I don’t care!
I’m looking to raise £100 and I’m a third of the way there, it would mean a lot to me to hit this target!”
