8 Weeks in…
So I am currently in the middle of my eighth week here at Sleeping Giant Media, and although this doesn’t seem like a huge amount of time, I feel like I have learned so much already!
I studied Multimedia at University so I was aware of search marketing, however my knowledge was definitely lacking. I was worried when I started that I would find tasks very challenging and perhaps overwhelming at times, but thankfully this wasn’t the case! I immediately felt comfortable with the other members of the team and they assured me that if I struggled to understand anything, or if I had any questions I needed answering, then all I had to do was ask!
The first hurdle I had to overcome was getting used to using a Mac. I have used PCs pretty much my whole life so I thought this would take a long time, but it turned out that using a Mac was very intuitive, and now I feel like my laptop at home is pretty basic in comparison!
Getting To Know The Software
I was introduced to software such as AdWords and Analytics pretty early on, and at first it all seemed fairly daunting as there was a lot of information to take in, but I feel like I’m getting to grips with it all! What’s great is I’ve had the opportunity to get involved with so many different aspects of the business from blogger outreach and link building, to creating new ad campaigns and I’m very excited about what’s to come in the future!
I am a massive fan of cake, and Heather loves to bake (that rhymed!) so I have often been very kindly given yummy pieces of homemade cake, which are too good to resist! Here’s a batch we had a couple of weeks ago!
Being Part of a small Team
There’s a really great social atmosphere here in general, and everyone is so easy to get along with, which has really helped me settle in quickly! I do feel sorry for everyone having to endure some of my musical tastes when I get hold of the office playlist! But who doesn’t love a bit of Rihanna and Lady Gaga?! During our team night out at the end of my 4th week here, I thanked everyone for making me feel so welcome with a round of Sambuca, not sure how well it went down…
These first two months have completely flown by, and I’m very much looking forward to what’s coming in the future, continuing to learn and to getting more and more involved with clients!
