Looking back at the last year of business growth with Managing Director, Anthony Klokkou.

At the beginning of 2018, we were looking for the next step in terms of how do we keep delivering business growth, without running the risk of losing control of a rapidly evolving business in such a dynamic industry of digital. We were approaching our 10 year anniversary (#SGM10year) and had started thinking about the next 10 years, what do they look like?

Well, having read parts of Gino Wickman’s Traction® book, we had already been aware of the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS®) and some of its merits. As a leadership team, we decided that now was the time (early 2018) to fully embrace the EOS® model across our business.

What the heck is EOS®?

EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System, combines timeless business principles with a set of simple, practical, real-world tools to help entrepreneurs get what they want from their businesses. – EOS Worldwide

It’s at that point we embarked on the EOS® journey, starting by reading/re-reading the books Traction® and Get a Grip, and then following the steps (whilst tailoring some to our own culture and ethos) to implement across the business in full.

It was a tough few months and a lot of planning, re-visioning, and implementation. The entire team was involved, and it took hard work and commitment from all areas of team GIANT to make it happen. We got everyone on board and with all that support, we managed the official rollout of all the new initiatives and processes in May 2018.

We felt at that point, in the words of Jim Collins, from his book Good to Great, we had a “Good” business, that we wanted to make a “Great” business, and EOS® was an important step in the right direction.

Fast forward to May 2019, we’re now a year on from the full rollout of EOS® across our business.

It’s been an incredible journey so far, and thanks to the incredible team of GIANTs, it has been embraced and is already driving real impact across all areas of our business.

Personally, I feel that the grip we have on business performance is better than ever before. And by performance I’m not talking finances, although of course they are a factor, but invariably, as a lag measure, it is not a factor that’s influenced directly.

Rather I mean that we now have an incredible grip on all elements of the business, from culture to customer service, from the ability to remain flexible and make decisions quickly and effectively, to facilitating more ownership, development, and autonomy across the wider team.

The structures and processes that our version of EOS® has brought to our team have genuinely helped facilitate incredible things from GIANTS in all departments. This, in turn, is driving client success, business success and our growth.

But we’re still very much at the beginning of our journey, and we’re still developing and evolving the processes and structures. However, so far, it feels great!

The Entrepreneurial Operating System® won’t clear up the uncertainty we’re all facing in business right now, however, it has helped us develop control and agility, keeping us focused on our goals and vision. As such, regardless of what comes next, we’re in the best place we can be to react and adapt, safeguarding performance for our clients, and of course, our GIANTs.
