A few months ago, Google launched the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project (which we wrote about here), which mainly focused on accelerating breaking news stories at the top of the Google Search Results.

The AMP story

In the time since, AMP has flourished into accelerating a plethora of different topics (with 150 million AMP docs now indexed), ranging from recipes to travel and e-commerce and going far beyond just the news industry.

Consequently, Google has now announced that they are expanding their AMP support throughout the whole search results page and not just at the top section (note: this does not affect site rankings on the results page). Results that are AMPs have a grey and white lightning symbol followed by AMP next to it, and when you view these you can see them through the AMP viewer.

Now it’s your turn
Although it won’t be available until later on in 2016, you can have a preview of the impending AMP results. You can have a go at using Google’s exclusive AMP preview demo by clicking here. Search anything your literary heart desires – from travel reviews to song lyrics, to see how you can enjoy faster mobile reading!
