Learn new skills to boost your brand and business across Facebook 🤳

Every couple of months the social media platforms release figures showing their growth and total base, and each time it comes as no surprise that Facebook comes out on top.

When you consider that the company also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, it is clear that they have a real lead when it comes to the pool of audience. This obviously makes it a fantastic opportunity for marketers or businesses looking to get in front of new people, but with so much changing on the platforms, it can be difficult to make sure that your knowledge is current, and up to scratch.

To this end, Facebook has come up with a solution in the form of Facebook Blueprint. An official and, importantly, free online platform, Facebook Blueprint contains over 90 different courses on a huge spectrum of subjects.

Whether you are new to Instagram or trying to become the Stephen Hawking of Facebook knowledge, there are plenty of short courses (regularly updated) to help you do it.

Signing up to the platform is easy, just head on over to the website, type in a few details, and there you go.

What courses are available on Facebook Blueprint?

Courses are handily split into categories such as ‘get started with advertising’ and ‘generate leads’ so it is easy to navigate to areas you need more improvement.

As a handy tip, Facebook also provides a mock test which you can do (more on this test business shortly), which will measure your strengths and weaknesses and highlight a few choice courses that match those where you could use a brush-up.

With so many courses on the platform, it is difficult to complete them all, so where to spend the most time is important and will save you many, many hours of revisiting things you already know.

Want to take it to the next level?

Not only does Facebook provide free resources, but it also provides a certification so you can prove to others just how much you know.

These certifications do cost money (around $150 per exam) but will net you a certification that you can proudly display at any sales meeting, or work review.

Facebook continue to expand the certifications it offers in order to tailor to the many different types of people who would want to be proficient in their platforms, and current certifications include the following:

  • Facebook Certified Digital Marketing Associate
  • Facebook Certified Marketing Science Professional
  • Facebook Certified Creative Strategy Professional
  • Facebook Certified Media Planning Professional
  • Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional
  • Facebook Certified Marketing Developer
  • Facebook Certified Advanced Marketing Developer
  • Facebook Certified Advertising API Developer
  • Facebook Certified Community Manager

Phew. That’s a lot of options. Something for everyone, right?

In the risk of sounding like someone much older than my current age, back when I completed Facebook Blueprint there weren’t nearly as many options.

All this goes to show that Facebook is putting a lot of effort into its training platform, and it is worth mentioning, these certifications really do test your knowledge on the platform. Whereas other online certifications might be very entry-level or make it easy to Google the answers, Facebook has gone the whole hog with their exams, requiring users to sit in a room with no distractions, and watched on webcam to ensure they don’t get up to any suspicious hijinx.

So, what do the Facebook Blueprint certifications mean?

If you want to know which of those options are for you, the digital marketing associate is for those with basic knowledge of the platform. It might be suited for students or entry level markets.

The marketing science professional is a very data-driven course and measures competency of using data and insights to drive a course.

The creative strategy professional course does what it says on the tin and measures competence of creating and applying strategy to Facebook and its suite of apps.

Facebook Media Buying and Planning are the two OF certifications and review a person’s capabilities when it comes to planning Facebook strategies to meet business goals, and competency of using campaign management tools to buy ads on Facebook and Instagram.

The Facebook developer courses should hopefully be fairly self-explanatory, but in short, they will measure implementation of marketing solutions across Facebook’s marketing API integrations. If you are a programmer, I’m sure that all made more sense than it makes to me.

Finally there is the community manager course, which is all about following best practices for online community management.

Working out the next steps

If you are interested in trying out any of these certifications, then you can find all the information in the Blueprint portal. It will also recommend a number of courses that you should complete to make sure you have all the knowledge you need to sit it.

If you just want to improve your knowledge and don’t like the idea of sitting an exam then you can still do that on the platform absolutely free.

It’s easy to get started, and each course is roughly 15 minutes, so why not give it a go and see how you get on?
