For the past 24 years, The Society for Storytelling has been promoting the importance of storytelling, and 2017 is the 17th anniversary of its Annual National Storytelling Week.
Humans have been telling stories for thousands of years – whether it be by drawing on the walls of caves, or by orally sharing a tale – by nature, we are all storytellers. Humans thrive on emotion, and storytelling is an effective and emotive way of connecting our pasts, and opening our futures through language.
Digital marketing is a lot like storytelling, through digital channels you are telling stories about a product or service. Storytelling is also said to be one of the most powerful tools a marketer can have (when used correctly, that is!). Storytelling through digital marketing takes a lot of time and effort, but leads to great things. (Psst, our CEO Luke even wrote a blog about how content marketing is like storytelling here!)
So, as our #GIANTtalks turns a new and exciting chapter, we’re pleased to announce that we’re holding our next #GIANTtalks on Storytelling Through Digital Marketing, at the prestigious Foyles Bookshop on 23rd February.
The talk will be featuring keynote speakers from award-winning Parker Design, Google (as well as us) on topics ranging from YouTube and looking at the changing behaviour of online video consumption, to creating authenticity through visual storytelling.
If you want to turn a new page on your digital marketing strategy, pencil the 23rd February in your diaries and secure your place today!
All good content comes back to either information or story telling.
