YouTube Advertising

YouTube Advertising – What is it?

Basically… YouTube ads are those display ads that pop up when you are watching a video, and they sometimes have a square companion ad that runs alongside:

YouTube advertising is one of the more integrated forms of Paid Social Advertising due to Google’s relationship with the platform. The Youtube paid search interface can actually be run directly from the Google Adwords interface meaning that it benefits from all of the accompanying functionality and a fully integrated analytics solution via Google Analytics. Plus it gives complete cost control, much like with any display based Adwords campaign, it can be run on a CPC or CPM basis, with specific budgetary caps and controls.

So what does this mean for advertisers? Well essentially it allows Brand owners to show highly flexible display ads to users who are viewing specific YouTube videos. Advertisers can target by a range of criteria, from traditional geographic and demographic, all the way to a video by video basis.

YouTube Advertising – Why use it?

YouTube Advertising gives you an opportunity to engage with your prospective customers much earlier on in the Customer Buying Cycle. In the example shown left, we are promoting a very relevant ad to users who are investigating and researching before considering a purchase.

Not only can you promote a specific product/service via a very engaging creative, aiming for a direct response, but this form of Social Advertising also carries a very valuable opportunity for Brand exposure to a particularly relevant audience, ideally looking to drive a Brand search and click through PPC or SEO later in the customer buying cycle.

As an agency we believe that creative solutions within what has historically been labelled as a very technical and data focussed specialisation gives us/our clients the competitive edge; as such, integrating a well targeted and granular YouTube campaign into your search strategy will help to drive your business forwards.
