Search Engine Optimisation is often shrouded in mystery, many agencies take a “smoke and mirrors” approach to selling their services, leaving clients wondering what it actually is that they are paying for, and with no understanding of what to expect.

It is true that ranking algorithms across Google, Yahoo! and Bing are very complex, and it is unlikely that any one SEO’er knows all of the elements that make it up. But with that said, we do not believe it needs to be as convoluted as some might make out.

At Sleeping Giant Media we break our SEO offering down into two core elements which we believe cover off the fundamentals to achieving success through natural search:

On-Page SEO

Our first step is to audit your current site, looking in detail at the elements that help Google to understand what your site is about and who it will be relevant to.

This usually takes the form of an Audit with recommendations and implementation if required, but essentially revolves around Page Titles, Header Tags, Content, Url Structure etc… the list is quite extensive and will ensure your site is in the best possible state to rank for the terms that are relevant to your business and your customers from the start.

Off-Page SEO

The second core element to SEO ranking is link building. By growing your back link profile you are effectively indicating to the search engine that your site is valuable and of greater relevance to key terms than other sites, and as such should be ranked higher!

So ultimately, that’s it, no smoke and mirrors and no black magic! SEO ranking is about content and relevance.

As such, we use PPC pilot campaigns to ensure the SEO strategy is results focussed and customer lead.
