Building bridges between micro moments is extremely important, even more so when it’s across multiple devices.

Daily use

The rise of different devices in the past few years mean users are alternating between them more than ever. How are they using their devices on a daily basis?

80% use a smartphone, spending average of 170 minutes

16% use a tablet, spending an average of 120 minutes

67% use a computer, spending an average of 75 minutes

1 out of 5 people use another device whilst using a computer at the same time. 57% use more than one device, whilst 21% use a computer simultaneously.

Going mobile for search

Around 40% of users turn to their smartphones daily to make instant searches, with more than 1 in 4 users only using a smartphone to do so. Therefore, there are more Google searches on smartphones than on desktops, and if you aren’t reaching these mobile customers, that’s a significant portion of your audience.

The most common search queries include:

Parenting

Maternity
New parents
Teething

Beauty

Hair styling
Manicures and pedicures
Nails

Health

Sunburn
Cold and flu
Cold sores

Smartphone use is generally constant throughout the day, with desktop use reaching its highest use at around 8pm. 30% of smartphone users continue to use their device beyond 12am.
